So a couple of weeks ago I wrote to Arcadia asking why they had closed the Leeds branch of Evans because it was quite a decently sized shop and it seemed mad to close it when Leeds has two branches of Dorothy Perkins and two branches of Topshop. Why close the only plus size shop? This morning, I got a reply!

Yeah, so not only have they missed the point (I put in my original letter that I didn’t like shopping online as much as actually being able to go into a store and try stuff on), they have not even bothered to address my criticism of the logic of shutting Evans down whilst keeping two Topshops and two Dorothy Perkins open. And of course they didn’t mention my main point, which was that maybe they should think about extending the sizes in said other stores to the point where we wouldn’t need to shop in a “special” shop.
As for the “commercial reasons” I can only assume that Evans is not making as much money as Arcadia’s other shops. And I think I know why that is. It’s because it’s old fashioned, expensive, crap with the occasional good pair of shoes or basic pair of jeans. If they made fashionable clothes, the kind that you can get in Topshop except in bigger sizes, they would probably make a fortune. I for one, would buy anything from a range like that in a heartbeat.
In short, Evans, you suck. Sort it out.
store and even 2 years ago...going under spectacularly, I’m surprised
